Spectral Expansion Solution for a Finite Capacity Multiserver System in a Markovian Environment12

چکیده
Spectral expansion method is successfully extended for the solution of a class of Markov processes of nite state space. In this frame work, a nite capacity mul-tiserver system, alternating in a Markovian environment, serving a Poisson stream of jobs, is analysed for steady state performance and dependability. The solution is exact and eecient.

Upper Bounds on Performance Measures of Heterogeneous M/M/c Queues
In many real-life queueing systems, the servers are often heterogeneous, namely they work at different rates. This paper provides a simple method to compute tight upper bounds on two important performance measures of single-class heterogeneous multi-server Markovian queueing systems, namely the average number in queue and the average waiting time in queue. This method is based on an expansion o...
متن کاملVibration and Stability of Axially Moving Plates by Standard and Spectral Finite Element Methods
Based on classical plate theory, standard and spectral finite element methods are extended for vibration and dynamic stability of axially moving thin plates subjected to in-plane forces. The formulation of the standard method earned through Hamilton’s principle is independent of element type. But for solving numerical examples, an isoparametric quadrilateral element is developed using Lagrange ...

متن کاملLevel Dependent Band-QBD Processes: Steady State Solution and Applications
A class of Markov processes, called the Level Dependent Band-QBD Processes, is defined and introduced. An exact and efficient solution of these processes, using the spectral expansion method, is developed. The utility of these processes is illustrated through solving a non-trivial example, which is, the performance modelling of a multiserver system used for Web server software architecture.
متن کاملFree and Forced Transverse Vibration Analysis of Moderately Thick Orthotropic Plates Using Spectral Finite Element Method
In the present study, a spectral finite element method is developed for free and forced transverse vibration of Levy-type moderately thick rectangular orthotropic plates based on first-order shear deformation theory. Levy solution assumption was used to convert the two-dimensional problem into a one-dimensional problem. In the first step, the governing out-of-plane differential equations are tr...
